Callie Mady

About

Biography

Callie Mady is a professor at Nipissing University in the Schulich School of Education where she teaches in the teacher education, Aboriginal Certification, and the graduate programs. She holds a PhD from OISE of the University of Toronto with a focus on second language education. Her research interests include French as a second language education and multilingual language acquisition. In particular, her research focuses on minority populations in those areas⎯immigrants and students with learning difficulties. Callie’s most recent SSHRC funded research project focuses on the English and French achievement of three groups of students in Grade 6 French immersion: Canadian-born English speaking, Canadian-born multilingual and immigrant multilingual students. In addition to numerous academic articles, Callie is co-editor (with Dr. Katy Arnett) of the book Minority populations in second language education: Broadening the lens from Canada. Similarly, in addition to her more practically focused articles Callie is co-author of several books for students of French as a second language including Connexions, Suivez moi, and La famille c’est spéciale. published by Pearson Education.
