Welcome back for the 2022-23 academic year. After two years of quiet hallways and primarily virtual classes, it is great to once again see campus buzzing with the energy of the Fall term. With classes set to begin next week, we wanted to provide an update regarding our COVID-19 protocols and how we can all work together to keep our community safe and healthy.

Post-secondary students in cities across the country, including North Bay, are struggling to secure off-campus housing as a result of an ongoing housing shortage. In light of this, Nipissing University has been actively working with the Near North Landlords’ Association, the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and Canadore College, to encourage members of the community to consider the benefits of renting a space in their home to a student.

Nipissing University is pleased to announce the public launch of the Lake Nipissing Beading Project (LNBP), a five-metre community-based reimagining of Lake Nipissing and its tributaries and waterways, combining 444 individually-beaded pieces.

The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and Nipissing University are pleased to announce that Sodexo Canada Ltd., a leading global food and facilities management company, has been named the new food service provider at the NUSU Student Centre.

"His CPR technique kept me alive after my heart stopped thrice and required paddles twice," the patient wrote. Nipissing University alumnus, James Corbiere, has embarked on a mission to reshape the narrative surrounding Canadian history through his innovative educational board game, Truth in Truth and Reconciliation. The game offers an Indigenous perspective on colonization and reconciliation, aiming to foster understanding and critical dialogue about historical injustices.

Nipissing University invites the community to lace up their running shoes in support of the Lakers Nordic Ski Team by participating in the Conquer the Escarpment Shelby Dickey Memorial Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, October 27, at 11 a.m. The event, hosted by Nipissing University, honours the memory of Nipissing alumnus Shelby Dickey, a Bachelor of Physical Health Education and Master of Science in Kinesiology graduate.
